Rozavlea Municipality and Fundatia Tarbut Sighet are launching the Romanian edition of

IN INIMILE NOASTRE ERAM NISTE URIASI” by Yehuda Koren & Eilat Negev, Grinta.2015

Through research and interviews with Perla, the youngest Ovitz daughter and last surviving brother, and other relatives, authors Yehuda Koren and Eilat Negev weave the story of a loving family and successful popular performers and entertainers in Central Europe until the Nazis deported the whole family from Rozavlea to Auschwitz in May 1944.

Descending from the train carriage in Auschwitz concentration camp hell, Ovitz Family widely known as the European Lilliput Troupe has been separated from other victims. WhenDr. Josef Mengele has been notified about their arrival; Mengele had special plans for the Ovitz’s.

The authors chronicle Mengele horribleexperiments to family members;nonetheless, he developed affection for these annoying little people and their endless willingness to make it in life.

The Ovitz film is a symbol of faith, courage and perseverance even though everyday could have been their last one.

Rozavlea Mayor Vasile Mirza says “as a Historian it is extremely important for the young generation to know about the stories of the past in Romania. The book will be in libraries and High Schools will use it as part of their Holocaust curriculum”
